Witnessing the growing popularity of winter sports and the expansion of the Châtel resort, Roland and Jeanne Macchi open the macchi hotel in December 1970.
Hotel Macchi has grown rapidly since its opening, and especially since 1980, when the couple's son, Eric Macchi, a fresh graduate at the Thonon-Les-Bains hospitality school, began working in the kitchen. A LEADING HOTEL IN CHÂTEL, VALLÉE D’ABONDANCE, LES PORTES DU SOLEIL AND HAUTE-SAVOIE
In 1985, Mr and Mrs Macchi senior decided to give control of the business to their son, Eric Macchi and his new wife Elisabeth Teigné, from Maine-et-Loire.
This takeover initiated a rapid chain of events. Eric and Elisabeth poured their energy into the business and set about turning the hotel into a leading destination in Châtel, Vallée d’Abondance, Les Portes du Soleil, Haute-Savoie and the Rhône-Alpes region.
In 1993, Anaïs was born and the indoor pool was constructed.
In 1997, Céline was born. The same year saw the creation of L'Aigle bar, serving a cocktail named after their youngest daughter.
The hotel introduced two new spaces: a room known as the "Salle de l'Ours" designed to host seminars and "relaxation" activities, and the "Authentique Voyage" spa, with an Indian theme and offering Ayurvedic massages.
It has become a leading destination in Châtel and the Vallée d’Abondance.
Michèle, Annie, Valentina, Mihai, Ioan and Jean-Pierre joined the team to improve customer satisfaction and experiences at Hotel Macchi. Renovation of the restaurant « Le Cerf ».
Perrine joined the family company in the back-office department and established a Yield Management technique. Elisabeth, sensitive to the difficulties of the Chambermaid job and aware of climate change, invested in bed lifters (which allow to make the beds at shoulder height) and in a dry-steaming tool that cleans and disinfects (no more aggressive cleaning products!!)
Perrine excels in her field and becomes the Accommodation Director, as a replacement for her mum, Elisabeth. Anais followed the family path and became the Manager of the back-office department. Céline completed her high school diploma with honors and joined her father, Eric, in the kitchen to become a chef
